Origin and history
The farm of Affoux, located in the village, is an 18th century architectural complex classified as a Historic Monument. It consists of a quadrilateral bounded by the dwelling house, barn-stable, chapit (small chapel or oratory), operating buildings and a wall separating the property from the public road. The wooden pillar of the entrance passage bears the engraved date of 1758, attesting to its construction at that time. The house illustrates the techniques of the era, notably by bending its covers, while the agricultural buildings south of the courtyard seem to date back to the 19th century, revealing a subsequent evolution of the site.
The spatial organisation of this farm reflects a traditional agricultural structure, where living and working spaces are closely intertwined. The central courtyard, closed and protected, probably served as a place of storage, circulation and daily activities. The listing of places in the inventory of Historic Monuments in 1994 (logis and exploitation buildings) underlines their heritage value, both for their architecture and for their representation of a rural way of life of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The location in Affoux, in the Rhône, places this monument in a regional context marked by diversified agriculture and characteristic stone and wood constructions.
Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, specify that the exact address is the Bourg, 69170 Affoux, with an approximate GPS location. The site does not appear to be systematically open to visit, but its state of conservation and protection make it an important testimony to the rural heritage of Lyon. The Creative Commons license for associated photos allows a wide dissemination of its image, contributing to its cultural value.
