Origin and history
The Saint-Elouan fountain of Saint-Guen, classified as a Historical Monument, was rebuilt in the seventeenth century after an earlier destruction. The outside fire, dating from 1633, houses a Merovingian style tombstone, carved by water from the spring. This tomb, surrounded by a Renaissance balustrade, is surmounted by a stone retable bearing the date of 1656 and a statue of the saint.
The associated chapel was also rebuilt at this time, although its exact origin remains unknown. The site, a communal property, includes a place of devotion linked to the remains of Saint-Elouan, emphasizing its religious and heritage importance. The inscription in the Historical Monuments in 1964 specifically protects the fountain and its immediate environment (cadastre C 694).
The official address, according to the Merimée base, is located the monument at Saint-Guen (Côtes-d'Armor), near Saint-Elouan in Guerlédan. The GPS location is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), and the site remains accessible, although its current use (visits, hosting) is not specified in the available sources.
