Origin and history
The former Hotel Jousset des Berries is an iconic building located in the city of Le Mans, Sarthe, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in the middle of the 18th century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period, marked by the elegance and refinement of urban mansions.
The hotel was registered as historic monuments by order of 24 January 1986, thus recognizing its heritage value. This protection applies to the entire building, identified under cadastral reference CO 87. Today, it is owned by a private company, which limits its access to the public.
The precise location of the hotel is indicated in the Mérimée base as being at 36 rue Genière and 53 rue Lionel-Roger, in the city centre of Le Mans. These addresses reflect its integration into the historic urban fabric of the city, where private hotels played an important role in the social and economic life of local elites in the 18th century.
