Facades and roofs (case AB 90): inscription by order of 5 May 1972

Origin and history

The fronton house, located on Rue du Temple in Moncontour (Côtes-d Its façade, marked by a large roof and a central pediment, includes a skylight and two windows on the second floor framed with ground pilasters. A simple headband highlights the floor, while the first floor features two decorated windows and a side niche. The ground floor, back, aligns pilasters between which are ordered doors and windows.

The protection of this monument, inscribed by decree of 5 May 1972, relates specifically to its facades and roofs. This type of bourgeois house reflects the Breton urban architecture of the time, where sober ornamentation and balanced proportions reflect growing social ease. Details such as the ground capitals or the full massifs of the ends illustrate local artisanal know-how, typical of the merchant towns of the region.

The exact address, 8 rue du Temple, confirms its anchoring in the historical fabric of Moncontour, a commune whose code Insee (22153) attaches the monument to the department of Côtes-d'Armor. The location, noted as "passible" (5/10), suggests a possible but perfectable visual identification, reinforced by sources such as Monumentum and Merimée data.
