Origin and history

The Gallo-Roman site of Puymin Hill, located in Vaison-la-Romane, is an archaeological vestige dated from the Gallo-Roman period. This monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, is a significant example of the ancient heritage in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The excavation grounds, protected since 1942, cover a set of plots (cadastre 684 to 691) and belong to the commune of Vaison-la-Romane.

The location of the site, although specified by an approximate address (7863 F Rue Burrus), is considered of poor quality according to the accuracy criteria available. This site is a testament to the activities and social organization of the Gallo-Roman era, where archaeological excavations reveal aspects of daily life, public and private infrastructure, as well as cultural and religious practices.

The classification of the site by decree of 9 August 1942 underlines its heritage importance. Although available sources (Monumentum, internal data) do not provide comprehensive details of specific discoveries, the site remains a key place to understand the urban planning and Gallo-Roman architecture in the south of France.
