The façade on the courtyard and the corresponding roof (Box K 2908, 329): inscription by decree of 8 September 1965

Origin and history

The building located in the 15 cours Georges-Clémenceau in Bordeaux is an iconic 18th century building, typical of Bordeaux civil architecture of this time. Its façade, classified as Monument Historique by decree of 8 September 1965, is distinguished by carved decorations and wrought iron grilles in Louis XV style. The windows on the first floor are decorated with love bearing various attributes, such as marine anchors or architectural elements, reflecting the influence of the city's port and artistic activities.

On the second floor, the windows feature carved keys, while the third floor features windows treated with windows, also protected by Louis XV grids. These details illustrate the refinement of Bordeaux bourgeois homes, marked by economic prosperity linked to the maritime and wine trade. The building, although partially protected (facade and roof), bears witness to Bordeaux's architectural heritage under the Ancien Régime.

The location of the building, on the course Georges-Clémenceau (formerly during the Intendance), highlights its integration into a central historical district, where private hotels and administrative buildings were concentrated. Today, its conservation allows you to appreciate the urban evolution of Bordeaux, between classical heritage and modernity. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be fair (note 5/10), based on available data.
