Main facade on the Rue du Colonel-Feracci, as well as the stairwell and roof (see AE 17): inscription by order of 24 January 1995
Origin and history
The building located at 11 rue du Colonel-Feracci in Corte, Corsica, is a monument listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments. Its protection relates specifically to the main façade, stairwell and roof, according to a decree dated 24 January 1995. These architectural elements, typical of Corsican urban heritage, reflect a time when the city of Corte played a central role in the administrative and military organization of the island.
In the region, the buildings of this period were often in a context of urban development linked to commercial, craft or military activities. Corte, as a strategic city of Haute-Corse, has seen its built fabric evolve to meet the needs of a growing population, mixing local influences and external inputs. This type of building, by its conservation, today bears witness to the architectural and social history of Corsica over the centuries.
