Origin and history

The building located in Arras, in the department of Pas-de-Calais, is a historical monument whose protection relates specifically to the facade. Ranked by order of 1 September 1919, he entered the city centre, Place des Héros, an emblematic place of reconstruction after the First World War. Its exact address, 44 Place des Heroes, makes it an architectural landmark in the urban landscape of Arrear.

The Hauts-de-France region, and more particularly Arras, has had a history marked by conflicts, notably the Great War, which has profoundly transformed its urban fabric. The buildings of this period, often rebuilt or restored, reflect architectural styles in vogue at the beginning of the twentieth century. Their preservation, like that of this building, illustrates the importance attached to the memory of the places and the enhancement of the local heritage.

These buildings, although sometimes discreet, play a key role in the visual and historical identity of the cities of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
