Facades and roofs (cad. 611): inscription by order of 30 April 1946

Origin and history

The building of Auvillar is part of a remarkable architectural complex, centered around the grain hall. The square, of atypical triangular shape, is lined with arcade houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. These buildings perfectly illustrate the gascon style of the time, mixing commercial and residential functions in a structuring public space.

The hall and surrounding buildings, including this building, are an emblematic example of Occitan rural planning. Their arrangement reflects the social and economic organization of the villages in the region, where local markets and trade played a central role. The facades and roofs of this building were protected by a registration order in 1946, highlighting their heritage value.

The precise location of the building, Place de la Halle-aux-Grains and Rue de la Triperie, confirms its integration into the historic heart of Auvillar. This area, although marked by a GPS location deemed "passable" (note 5/10), remains a major architectural testimony of the Gasconic identity of the 17th and 18th centuries. Available sources, such as Monumentum, highlight its representative character, without detailing its individual history or its potential owners.
