Origin and history
The communal well of Locronan is located in the heart of the town, on the church square. This monument, typical of the medieval collective arrangements or the Ancien Régime, served as a central water point for local residents and activities. Its location, adjacent to a place of worship, reflects its social and practical importance in the village organization.
Ranked as historical monuments in 1926, this well illustrates the desire to preserve the heritage elements related to daily life in Brittany. At that time, communal wells played a key role in water supply, sociability and sometimes even collective decisions. Their conservation reflects the attachment to the physical traces of traditional rural communities.
