Origin and history

Sorey is a monument located in the commune of Saint-Martin-de-Hinx in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This type of residence, often linked to the aristocracy or the rural bourgeoisie, bears witness to the residential architecture of the French countryside. Details of its construction or historic owners are not specified in available sources.

In the regional context of New Aquitaine, the genthummières played a central role in the social and economic organization of rural territories. They often served as residences for wealthy families, while participating in the management of surrounding agricultural land. Their presence reflects a time when local power was frequently held by notables, although the archives specific to this monument remain incomplete.
