Maison Gibert, located on the left bank of the Tinée, leaving Isola: inscription by order of 19 November 1942

Origin and history

The Gibert House is a historic monument located in the commune of Isola, in the department of Alpes-Maritimes (06), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. It is precisely on the left bank of the Tinée River, at the exit of the village. This building was inscribed under the title of Historic Monuments by a decree dated 19 November 1942, which demonstrates its heritage importance recognized by the French authorities.

Isola, like many villages in the Alpes-Maritimes, developed around a rural and mountain economy, marked by agriculture, livestock and the exploitation of local resources. Traditional houses, such as the Gibert House, played a central role in community life, often serving as a dwelling, storage place or artisanal activity. Their architecture reflects the adaptations to the climatic and geographical constraints of the region, with local materials such as stone or wood.
