Origin and history

The Grand Hotel du Parc was built in 1893 by architect Pierre Saint-Guily for Gabriel Graner, in the heart of the Salies-de-Béarn spa. This building, marked by the rise of thermalism (the thermal baths date back to 1858), features typical elements of the Belle Époque: wooden Italian galleries, courtyards and a Eiffel-style glass roof culminating at 27 meters. It embodies the luxurious architecture of the seaside and spa resorts of the late 19th century.

In 1978, the municipality of Salies-de-Béarn bought the hotel to become a casino in 1999, now run by the Partouche group. The present establishment also includes a casino built between 1925 and 1930 by architects Joseph Hiriart, Georges Tribout and Georges Beau, on the site of an old salt factory. This second building, in the shape of L around a glass rotunda, lost its original interior decor, made by Henri Sauvage's workshop.

Ranked a historic monument since 1995 for its facades and roofs, the Grand Hotel du Parc illustrates both the thermal heritage and the tourist changes of the 20th century. Its official address, avenue du Maréchal-Leclerc, and its INSEE code (64499) place it in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in New Aquitaine. The current manager of the casino is Marion Follin.
