Grange (Case AR 558): entry by order of 14 May 1993
Origin and history
The Guillolet barn is a monument located in the commune of Saint-Georges-d'Esperanche, in the department of Isère (38), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This building, whose location is estimated to be fair (note 5/10), is identified at the approximate address of 134 Chemin Bouvard. This is a communal property, which suggests its importance to the local community.
Listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 14 May 1993, this barn illustrates the traditional rural architecture of the region. Barns of this type were generally used for the storage of crops, agricultural tools and sometimes for the housing of livestock. Their presence reflects the economic and social organization of the countryside, where agriculture was the main activity.
In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, as in other French regions, these buildings were central elements of farms, often constructed of local materials such as stone or wood.
