Origin and history

The Jaurès-Brossolette school group was built in the early 1930s as part of the construction of the Pre-Saint-Gervais Garden City. Designed by architect Felix Dumail, it embodies an innovative architecture for the time, mixing concrete and glass cobblestones. The work, carried out between 1931 and 1935, made this institution a model both by design and by equipment, reflecting the progressive ideals of the 1930s in terms of education and urban planning.

In 1957, the building was raised from one floor, respecting the original architectural style. This extension reflects the adaptation of the school group to the growing needs of the local population. The whole, including the courses, was enrolled in the Historical Monuments by decree of 18 November 1997, thus recognizing its heritage value and its role in the social and architectural history of the region.

Located at 34 avenue Jean-Jaurès, the school group remains a symbol of the heritage of the gardens in Île-de-France. Its architecture, marked by the use of modern materials such as concrete and glass pavements, illustrates a pivotal period when technical innovation served social ambitions, including access to quality education in a redesigned urban setting.
