Origin and history
The Puits du 18s is a historical monument located in Oppede, in the department of Vaucluse (84), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Dating from the 18th century, it is listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments by decree of 12 January 1931. This well, integrated into a garden, now belongs to the commune of Oppede.
The location of the well, although documented (2295 Route d'Oppède-le-Vieux), is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10). This type of structure, typical of provencal villages, reflects the importance of collective water points in the social and agricultural organization of the rural communities of the time.
