Origin and history

The Ricey-Haut Hall is a public building built during the 1st quarter of the 19th century, located in the town of Riceys, Champagne-Ardenne (present-day Grand Est region). This monument, typical of the civil buildings of the time, probably served as a market place, a gathering place or an exchange for the local population. Its architecture reflects the practical needs of post-revolutionary rural communities, where covered halls played a central role in economic and social life.

Ranked among the Historical Monuments since a decree of 14 May 1980, the hall of Ricey-Haut is now owned by the municipality. Its registration reflects its heritage value, although details of its precise historical use or possible transformations remain little documented in available sources. The location, noted as satisfactory a priori (level 6/10), suggests a conservation in its original environment, near the Heroes of the Resistance.

No information is provided on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, etc.).
