Origin and history

The house located at 11 Place des Fusillés-et-Resistant au Faou is a typical building of Breton architecture from the 16th century. Its facade on the street, made of wood with a slate feel, rests on a base made of kerantite and quartz microdiorite. The lateral elevation is coated, while the interior could not be observed. This building illustrates the local construction techniques of the Renaissance, combining noble materials and craftsmanship.

According to the archives, this house was built in the first half of the sixteenth century. The cadastre of 1845 mentions a staircase turret, now extinct, which probably reflected a more complex internal organization. The protection of facades and roofs by decree of 1 March 1951 underlines his heritage interest, although his exact location is considered mediocre (precision 5/10).

The monument is listed in the Merimée base under the historic address Place des Halles, reflecting the toponymic evolutions of the Faou. Its current status and use (visit, rental) are not specified, but its registration as a Historical Monument guarantees its preservation.
