Yves Hélory de Kermartin (Saint-Yves) - Saint Breton and lawyer His canonization trial began there.

Origin and history

The house located at 11 Rue Colvestre in Tréguier is a 16th century urban residence, built on cellar with a square floor and a high floor. Its granite seam façade retains a flamboyant Gothic monumental door, re-used, as well as defensive grid windows. Inside, the stone fireplaces, the arched doors and a ramp staircase on granite ramp testify to its medieval organization. A wood-paned room, covered with slate, offers a view of the city and houses a fireplace.

Locally called the "Hôtel de Tournemine", this house is linked to Breton religious history: this is where the canonization trial of Yves Hélory de Kermartin, better known as Saint-Yves, began on 23 June 1330. The house once communicated with the nearby "House of Three Lawyers" (15th-17th centuries), suggesting a coherent urban whole. Interior modifications, such as stairs and doors, could date from the first quarter of the seventeenth century, perhaps after destructions related to the League's wars (1588–1598).

Classified as a Historic Monument in 1926 for its facades and roof, this house illustrates Breton architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the modern era. Her bronze hook, attached to a beam, evokes an initial vocation partially commercial or artisanal, while its defensive elements recall past tensions. The accuracy of its location remains poor (level 5/10), but its heritage interest is recognized by sources as Monumentum.
