Origin and history

The house at 29 rue des Falaises, in Binic-Étables-sur-Mer (Côtes-d'Armor), is a building recently recognized for its heritage interest. Listed in the Historical Monuments by order of 13 October 2023, its protection covers the entire building, as well as its courtyards, the remains of its old gardens, their floors, stairs, terraces and walls. Three posterior outbuildings, located in the backyard, are excluded from this protective measure. The site is referred to the cadastre under plots AK 49, 50 and 566.

This type of house, typical of the old Breton building, illustrates the local architecture and its adaptation to coastal relief, as evidenced by its location on the rue des Falaises. Although the available sources do not specify its exact origin, its recent inscription underscores its historical and landscape value in the Côtes-d'Armor heritage. The location, noted as "satisfactory" (level 7/10), allows a clear identification of the monument in its urban environment.

Binic-Étables-sur-Mer, a coastal commune in Brittany, has had a history marked by maritime and agricultural activities. Old houses, such as those on Rue des Falaises, often reflect the way of life of local families, mixing housing and utility spaces (courtyards, gardens). Their preservation contributes to the collective memory of a territory where the traditional building borders coastal landscapes.

The decree of 2023 marks an official step in the recognition of this heritage, guaranteeing the preservation of its structural elements. The lack of details about any owners or historical events related to the house invites further research to enrich its history. Current sources (Monumentum, Merimée database) are limited to administrative and descriptive data.
