House (Case DN 95): registration by order of 27 May 1932
Origin and history
The house in Blois, dating from the 16th century, is a former mansion with an inner courtyard. Its architectural elements, such as pilasters, supports and lintels of windows, are made of Bourré cut stone, while capitals are finely carved. The building is distinguished by a stone staircase at the original disposition, serving bearings in open galleries on the courtyard, supported by a curved arch. Several 16th century doors, carved, give access to this staircase.
On the first and second floor, the exposed floor is decorated with towel-shaped carved panels. The building, dating from the 2nd quarter of the 16th century, features Renaissance-style facades, combined with a staircase lit by loggia-galerie. However, the street façade was completely distorted in the 19th century, and interior changes affected the western building.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 27 May 1932, this house illustrates the refined civil architecture of the French Renaissance. Its address, 7 (or 17) rue Porte-Chartraine, and its Insee code (41018) place it precisely in the department of Loir-et-Cher, in the region Centre-Val de Loire.
