Façade and roof (cad. 1466) : inscription by decree of 11 October 1929

Origin and history

The house Ruyssen is a medieval house located in the village of Peruges, in the department of Ain. Built in the 15th century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period in the region. Its designation as historic monuments in 1929 reflects its historic importance, particularly for its facade and roof, protected by decree.

Peruges, a preserved medieval village, was at the time a place of passage and commerce. Houses such as the Ruyssen were used both as a dwelling and sometimes as a workshop or as a place of exchange for local artisans and merchants. Their stone construction reflects the techniques of the time, adapted to the defensive and climatic needs of the region.
