Origin and history

The house Thibaut is a medieval house located in the village of Peruges, in the department of Ain. Built in the 15th century, it represents a typical example of the civil architecture of this period, with characteristics peculiar to bourgeois or artisanal houses of the time. Its classification as historic monuments in 1924 reflects its heritage value and its importance for the preservation of the old building in the region.

Peruges, a preserved medieval village, was at that time a place of commerce and handicrafts, especially known for its weavers and silk-related activities. Houses such as those of the Thibauts served both as housing and as a workshop, reflecting a social organization in which working and domestic life were closely linked. This type of building illustrates the daily lives of the inhabitants of the region, marked by a dynamic local economy and architecture adapted to the needs of the community.

The Thibaut House is now protected for its façade, classified by ministerial decree in 1924. It is located in the heart of the village, at the intersection of Rue du Tambour and Rue de la Filaterie, two emblematic arteries of Peruges. Although its current function (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its status as a historical monument makes it a key part of the heritage of Ain and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
