Origin and history
The Hernoux Hotel is a historic monument located in Saint-Jean-de-Losne, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built in the 17th century, it was profoundly transformed in the late 18th century. This building illustrates the civil architecture of this period, marked by the influence of local elites, including the families of traders and magistrates.
The hotel owes its name to Charles Hernoux, a member of a dynasty of merchants and magistrates, who undertook the transformation of it at the end of the eighteenth century. The remarkable interior murals represent views of the city of Saint-Jean-de-Losne, offering an artistic and historical testimony to its urban landscape at that time.
The Hernoux Hotel has been officially protected since a decree of 13 September 1996. This recognition covers the entire building, including its interior decorations. His address, 4 rue de la Liberté, places the monument in the heart of the historic urban fabric of Saint-Jean-de-Losne, in the department of Côte-d-Or.
