Chapel and 18s buildings: inscription by order of 13 July 1926

Origin and history

The Chaumont Hospital is a hospital located in the town of Chaumont, Haute-Marne, in the Grand Est region. Built in the 18th century, it embodies the architecture and medical practices of this period, marked by a gradual organization of care and a desire for public hygiene. Its buildings, as well as its chapel, reflect the standards of the time for this type of institution, often linked to religious congregations or municipal initiatives.

The protection of this monument was formalized by a decree of 13 July 1926, which listed the chapel and buildings of the eighteenth century as historical monuments. This recognition reflects the historic and architectural value of the building. The hospital, now owned by the municipality, remains a symbol of the local health and architectural heritage, rooted in the urban history of Chaumont and its region.
