Origin and history
The Hotel Couvrey, located in Marly-le-Roi, is a private hotel built during the first half of the eighteenth century. It appears on the Lasseigne plan kept in the departmental archives, attesting to its historical importance from that time. This building illustrates the civil architecture of the Ancien Régime, with features specific to bourgeois or aristocratic residences in the Paris region.
In the 19th century, the hotel underwent a major transformation into the town hall of Marly-le-Roi. This reconversion reflects post-Revolutionary administrative changes, where former private hotels were often reassigned to public use. In 1893, an independent wing in return was added to house a school, marking a functional extension of the site.
The Hotel Couvrey has been partially protected under the Historic Monuments since 23 July 1937, with an inscription concerning its main building. Today, it belongs to the commune and retains a public vocation, although its access (visits, rentals) is not specified in the available sources. Its location at 20 Rue Champfour is documented with satisfactory accuracy (note 7/10).
