Facade and roof on street, as well as the bas-relief (Box AI 144, 145): inscription by order of 8 April 1991

Origin and history

The Hotel d'Anvers is an emblematic building located in Dieppe, in the Seine-Maritime department, in the Normandy region. Located at 47-51 quai Henri-IV, it is distinguished by its architecture and bas-relief, remarkable elements of local heritage. Although its exact date of construction is not mentioned, its partial inscription to historical monuments in 1991 demonstrates its cultural and architectural importance.

The facades and roofs overlooking the street and courtyard, as well as the bas-relief, were officially listed as historical monuments by order of 8 April 1991. This protection applies specifically to parts visible from public space, reflecting a desire to preserve the most representative elements of the building. The hotel of Antwerp is thus included in the list of protected monuments of Dieppe and Seine-Maritime, contributing to the wealth of Norman heritage.

Dieppe, a historic port city, has always played a key role in the region's maritime and commercial trade. Buildings such as the Antwerp Hotel, often linked to the economic or residential activity of local elites, reflect this past prosperity. Their preservation allows us to understand the urban and social evolution of the city, marked by its openness to the sea and its architectural dynamism.
