Origin and history

The hotel, classified as a Historical Monument, is distinguished by its two-storey street façade, marked by an 18th century low arch portal. The latter, decorated with bosses and a large cellar, features a two-valve painted wooden door, whose upper panels feature Louis XV-style mouldings. The fittings, including a wrought iron bumper, as well as the symmetrical wrought iron balconies of the windows, highlight the elegance of the era. The oval impostation above the salient lintel completes this refined set.

In the inner courtyard, a broken arch Gothic door attracts attention. Its tympanum, carved with the Pierrefite family's weapons, is supported by two angelots with finely worked dresses, while a third overlooks them. The prismatic mouldings of the frame, based on bases, bear witness to the medieval heritage of the 15th century. These elements contrast with the classical modernity of the facade, illustrating the architectural transformations of the building throughout the centuries.

The hotel of Aubière was partially protected by an order of 1 September 1967, specifically covering the sculpted tympanum door of the courtyard and the vantals of the door on street. His address, 20 Pascal Street in Clermont-Ferrand, places the monument in the historic heart of the city, although the accuracy of its location is considered mediocre (note of 5/10).
