Origin and history
The Hotel de Brasse is a private hotel located in Limoux, in the department of Aude, in the Occitanie region. Built between the late 18th and 19th centuries, it illustrates the civil architecture of this period, mixing late neo-classical elements with preserved interior decorations, such as a living room decorated with gypsumseries and wallpapers dated from the late 18th century. These characteristics make it a remarkable testimony of the bourgeois art of living of the time.
Part of the building, dating from the 4th quarter of the 18th century, retains an exceptional interior decor, including the living room with its original gypseries and wallpapers. The other part, built in the 19th century, adopts a late neoclassical style, reflecting the architectural evolutions of this period. The hotel was listed as a historical monument in 1999, protecting its facades, roofs, interior staircase and living room.
Located at 11 Rue Traversière Jean Jaurès in Limoux, the Hotel de Brasse is identified in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 11206, attached to the town of Limoux in Aude. Although its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the available sources, its inscription as a historic monument underscores its heritage importance. The protected elements specifically include facades, roofs, interior staircase and decorated living room, according to the decree of 12 February 1999.
