Façades and roofs, as well as the small private theatre (Box M2-440p, 441): inscription by decree of 26 September 1969

Origin and history

The Hotel de Broissia is an emblematic building located in Arbois, in the Jura department, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built during the 3rd quarter of the 19th century, it reflects the bourgeois architecture of this period, marked by a concern for elegance and distinction. Its facades and roofs, as well as its private theatre, bear witness to an architectural heritage preserved and valued by an inscription in the title of Historic Monuments in 1969.

The building is located at 68-70 Grande-Rue in Arbois, a commune whose Insee code is 39013. Although the accuracy of its location is considered fair, it remains a major point of interest in this wine town. The Hotel de Broissia embodies the lifestyle of the local elites of the 19th century, where private residences often included spaces dedicated to leisure, such as this theatre, symbol of culture and refinement.

The protection of its architectural elements, including facades, roofs and theatre, was formalized by a decree of 26 September 1969. This monument illustrates the importance attached to preserving the heritage built in France, while providing an overview of the social and cultural history of the region. No information is available on its current accessibility, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation.
