Origin and history

Hotel de Croisilles is a private hotel located at 12 rue du Parc-Royal, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Built in the 17th century, it embodies the civil architecture of this period, marked by the emergence of aristocratic residences in the capital. Its facades on the courtyard and on the old garden, as well as the corresponding roofs, were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 7 June 1961, highlighting their heritage value.

In Paris, in the 17th century, private hotels such as Croisilles reflected the social prestige of their owners, often nobles or wealthy bourgeois. These houses, organized around courtyards and gardens, served as both a residence and a place of representation. Their concentration in the Marais, then aristocratic quarter, showed its attractiveness before its gradual decline in the following centuries.

The partial protection of the Hotel de Croisilles in 1961 is part of a wider desire to preserve the Parisian heritage, especially in areas such as the 3rd arrondissement, rich in remains of the 16th and 17th centuries.
