Origin and history

The Hotel de François du Parc is a private hotel located in Morlaix, Finistère, Brittany. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it is distinguished by its architecture, including a large square pavilion flanked by a round turret. This house, partially demolished in the 19th century for urban reasons, preserves a remarkable facade with a door in the middle of a hanger framed with canned columns and surmounted by a triangular pediment.

The building was listed as historic monuments on 4 December 1968, protecting its facades and roofs. Originally, it included an advance on the Tréguier wharf, supported by pillars, which was destroyed around 1860 at the municipality's request to clear the view of the harbour. Today, it bears witness to the civil architecture of the Breton Renaissance, with elements such as the turret cushioned in granite dome.

The hotel is located in 15 Place des Otages in Morlaix, in a historical area close to the port. Its present state reflects the transformations experienced over the centuries, while maintaining major architectural features. Available sources, such as the Merimée and Monumentum base, confirm its heritage importance in the region.
