Origin and history

Hotel de la Crespellière is an emblematic building located at 7 rue Franche, in the bayeux protected area of Calvados. Built during the first half of the 18th century, it embodies the architectural style Regency, characterized by elegant lines and balanced proportions. The building, erected in limestone, is distinguished by its triangular pediment and its two wings in return, reflecting the refinement of the period.

The north-west façade on courtyard, accompanied by its two returns, and the corresponding roofs, were classified as historical monuments by order of 21 December 1984. This classification recognizes the heritage value of the building, which is integrated into the preserved urban landscape of Bayeux, a city rich in history and monuments.

Although the sources mention its inscription among historical monuments, little information is available on its past uses or possible owners. The hotel is part of the Norman architectural heritage, illustrating the evolution of styles between baroque and neoclassicism. Its location in the Bayeux protected area reinforces its importance in the conservation of the local historic setting.
