Origin and history

Hotel de Laloge is a private hotel located in the preserved area of the city of Dijon, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. This monument illustrates the civil architecture of the 17th and 19th centuries, with remarkable elements such as its facades, roofs and a decorated bedroom. It is representative of the aristocratic or bourgeois homes of that time, often built to affirm a social status in urban centres.

The building was partially protected as historical monuments in 1979. The two exterior staircases were classified by order of 27 December 1979, while the facades, roofs and a bedroom on the first floor (with its decoration and a medallion fireplace) were inscribed in the same year. These protections highlight the hotel's heritage value, both for its architecture and for its interior elements.

The architect Charles Switzerland is mentioned as a masterpiece associated with this monument. Although the sources do not specify its exact role in the construction or transformation of the hotel, its name is linked to the history of the building. The Hotel de Laloge is thus part of the Djonnais architectural landscape, marked by both classical and later influences, reflecting the stylistic changes between the 17th and 19th centuries.
