Origin and history
Hotel de Rouvière is a private hotel located in Marvejols, in the department of Lozère (48), in the Occitanie region. Built in the second half of the 17th century, it illustrates bourgeois architecture from the beginning of the reign of Louis XIV. The building, entirely classified by order of 20 October 2006, is distinguished by the exceptional preservation of its interior decorations and its second work, offering a rare testimony of the art of living of the time.
The hotel's structure includes a three-level house body, organized around a backyard. A vaulted passage, located at the southern end of the façade, allows access to this courtyard. Inside, a staircase serves a string of rooms overlooking the street, as well as a back room communicating with a square wing. The painted ceilings, still visible, add to the heritage wealth of the place.
Property of the commune of Marvejols, the hotel of Rouvière is located at 9 rue Jules-Daudé. Its classification as Historic Monument underlines its architectural and historical importance. Although sources mention its potential openness to visits or uses such as room rental, no specific information is available on its current accessibility or contemporary functions.
