Origin and history

Hotel de Tapié is a private hotel located in Caunes-Minervois, in the department of Aude, in Occitanie region. Built in the 17th century, it belongs from 1662 to the Tapié family, which has several local notables. The building, typical of the civil architecture of the period, includes a house, outbuildings (stable, stable), a garden and a patu. Its inscription to historical monuments in 1948 protects in particular a corner window adorned with complex mouldings, including a cartridge probably armored.

The facade of the Hotel de Tapié presents remarkable architectural elements, such as a protruding cornice with larmier and doucin, or ground vertical pillars. The bases of the pillars are decorated with foliage, some inspired by the flamboyant style. This monument illustrates the social status of its owners, while reflecting the persistent stylistic influences of late medieval architecture in the region.

According to the archives, the house is mentioned in the feudal plans of the direct of the abbey of Caunes-Minervois. The Tapié family, owner from 1662, marked the local history, although little precise details of its members are available from current sources. The 1948 inscription specifically concerns the corner window, the most decorated element of the building.
