Hôtel de Ville: by order of 8 June 1931
Origin and history
The Town Hall of Solre-le-Château is an emblematic monument of the commune, located in the Nord department, in the Hauts-de-France region. Ranked a Historical Monument by decree of 8 June 1931, it embodies the local administrative and architectural history. Its location on the Grand Place, in the heart of the village, highlights its central role in community life for decades.
The building, owned by the municipality, bears witness to the typical municipal organisation of small towns in northern France at the beginning of the twentieth century. At that time, city hotels served not only as a seat of local government, but also as a gathering place for the inhabitants, reflecting the social and political dynamics of their time. Their architecture, often sober but imposing, symbolized the stability and authority of public institutions in areas with a strong historical and industrial identity.
