Origin and history
The Town Hall of Vincennes is an iconic building that houses the offices of the town hall, the archives and reception rooms service. Built between the late 19th and mid 20th centuries, it combines administrative functions and a remarkable artistic heritage, as evidenced by its frescoes and its wall decorations.
The wedding hall is decorated with frescoes painted by Maurice Chabas in 1902, classified as historical monuments in 1982. These artistic works, as well as the paintings and wall decorations of the southern and northern facades, illustrate local history and emblematic landscapes such as Daumesnil Lake. These elements underline the cultural and memorial role of the building.
The building was listed as historic monuments in 1999, and was classified in 2000, recognizing its heritage value. Located at 53 bis rue de Fontenay, it is part of the urban landscape of Vincennes, in the Val-de-Marne department, in Île-de-France.
