Origin and history
The Hotel de Vitry, also called Hotel de Guiche, Hotel de Boufflers, Hotel de Duras or Hotel Lefebvre-d It occupies the north side of the square, east of the Tresmes hotel, and embodies the aristocratic architecture of the time, with facades and roofs classified in 1920.
The remarkable interior features include first-floor painted floor ceilings, protected by a 1961 order. The gallery on the square and the vantals of the entrance door were classified in 1956. Although the sources mention partial origin in the 16th century, its major construction dates from the 17th century, reflecting the urbanization of the Vosges square under Henry IV.
The official administrative address (base Mérimée) is 14-14bis rue des Minimes, but GPS coordinates suggest a location close to 40 rue de Turenne. This gap illustrates the challenges of geographical precision for ancient monuments. The hotel, now closed to the public, remains a testimony of the Parisian architectural heritage, linked to noble families such as the Guiche or the Duras.
