Origin and history

Hotel Doyse is a private hotel located in Bourg-Saint-Andéol, in the department of Ardèche, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the first half of the 18th century, it illustrates the refined civil architecture of this period, marked by interior decorative elements such as woodwork, fireplaces and worked ceilings. Its staircase, with a wrought iron ramp, also bears witness to the craftsmanship of the time.

Ranked a Historical Monument by order of 12 October 1946, the Hotel Doyse sees some of its protected areas, including its facades on street, courtyard and garden, its roofs, its vestibule, as well as three interior rooms with their original decorations. The entire building, with the exception of classified parts, is listed as Historic Monuments in the same year. These protections underline its heritage and architectural importance.

The building is located at 5 rue Julien-Rigaud, although sources also mention an approximate address at 5 rue Mazet, reflecting an inaccuracy in the exact location. This geographical ambiguity, noted as "passible" (level 5/10), does not alter its recognition as an emblematic heritage of the city. The Doyse Hotel thus embodies the prestige of the urban residences of the Ardèche in the Enlightenment century.
