Origin and history

The Hotel Le Franc de Pompignan is a private hotel built in Montauban in the second half of the seventeenth century. It was built for Le Franc de Pompignan, the first president of the aid court, a financial court of the Ancien Régime. The architecture adopts a horse-drawn iron plan, typical of the urban hotels of the time, with an opening on the street marked by a classical gate, remarkable element of the building.

The monument has been partially protected under the Historic Monuments since 1972, with a classification covering facades, roofs (including the entrance gate) and the honorary staircase. These elements illustrate the prestige associated with the role of its sponsor, as well as the influence of classical architecture in southwestern France in the seventeenth century. The exact address, 10 rue Armand-Cambon, is located in the historic centre of Montauban, Tarn-et-Garonne department in Occitanie region.

Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, highlight its local heritage importance. Although the accuracy of its location is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), no information is provided on its current accessibility (visits, rental, or accommodation).
