Origin and history

Hotel Mazel is an emblematic monument to the city of Pézenas, in the Occitan region. Built in the second half of the 18th century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period, marked by elegant style and classical influences. This type of private hotel was often associated with the bourgeoisie or local aristocracy, reflecting their social status and taste for refinement.

By the end of the 18th century, Pézenas was a dynamic city, known for its role in cultural trade and exchanges. Private hotels, such as Hotel Mazel, served not only as residences for wealthy families, but also as reception and sociability venues. Their construction was part of urban development and the affirmation of local elites, while participating in the beautification of the city.
