Origin and history
Hotel Neyret de la Ravoie, located in Saint-Amand-Montrond in the Cher, is a Renaissance building built during the first quarter of the seventeenth century. It was built for the Neyret de la Ravoie family, whose name it still bears today. This monument is distinguished by its neat decoration, typical of the period, with architectural elements such as ionic pilasters, carved friezes and decorated frontons. The entrance door, particularly remarkable, is framed by two canned pilasters bearing a frieze and a curved pediment, embellished with garlands of flowers and surmounted by vases in acrotery.
The window above the portico is also richly decorated, with a low circular pediment and mouldings. This architectural ensemble is complete with a skylight, framed with brush mouldings and a triangular pediment. This pediment is adorned with three vases draped in acrotters, supported by foliage crawlers. The whole decor, including the vantail of the door charged with an ionic pilastre and caissons, could date from the early seventeenth century, confirming the stylistic unit of the building.
The hotel was registered with the Historical Monuments by order of 19 April 1932, protecting its facades, roofs and doors. This official recognition underscores the heritage value of the building, both for its architecture and for its state of conservation. The protected elements, as mentioned in the cadastre (AR 169, 171), testify to the historical and artistic significance of this monument in the urban landscape of Saint-Amand-Montrond.
