Origin and history

Hotel Pagy de Valbonne is a historic monument located in Lambesc, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Built between the second half of the 16th century and the first half of the 17th century, this mansion bears witness to the civil architecture of this period. Its listing in the inventory of Historic Monuments, by decree of 23 August 1978, protects remarkable elements such as its facade, roofs, sill windows and interior staircase.

The location of the Hotel Pagy de Valbonne is specified in the Mérimée base at the address 3 rue du Plan-Bedouin, although GPS coordinates also suggest a proximity to Rue Grande. This type of building, typical of the Provencal cities of this period, reflects the social status of its owners and the importance of local bourgeois or aristocratic families. Snake windows and architectural details recall the stylistic influences of the late Renaissance and early classical era.

In Lambesc, as in other cities in Provence, private hotels often served as residences for wealthy families, while playing a role in the social and economic life of the city. These buildings were symbols of power and prestige, integrated into an urban fabric marked by agricultural, artisanal and commercial activities. Hotel Pagy de Valbonne, with its architecture and protection, embodies this local and regional heritage.
