Origin and history
The Sillery-Genlis hotel, located at 13 quai Conti in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, is a building built between 1658 and 1660. It is a work by architect François Mansart, a major figure in French classicism. This monument illustrates the architectural know-how of the seventeenth century, a period marked by the emergence of modern Parisian urbanism under the influence of Louis XIV.
The building was partially protected by an order of 15 March 1947, covering its facades on street, courtyard, impasse, roofs, gate, as well as the cage and staircase ramp. These elements reflect the historic importance of the hotel, both for its style and for its integration into the urban fabric of the Conti district, close to the Institut de France. Today, the building belongs to the municipality of Paris.
The location of the hotel, between the Conti dock and the impasse of the same name, highlights its anchoring in a historic area of the capital. GPS coordinates and sources such as the Merimée base confirm its exact address, although the accuracy of its location is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10). This monument is thus part of the Parisian heritage, between aristocratic heritage and contemporary municipal management.
