Origin and history
The Hôtel de Beaumont-de-Lomagne is a historic monument built in the middle of the eighteenth century for a king's adviser to the Toulouse Parliament. This building, designed between courtyard and garden, illustrates the refined civil architecture of the period, with facades combining brick and decorated coatings. Its rectangular plan, structured on three spans and two levels (square floor + attic), includes two vaulted cellars under its southern half. The entrance gate, framed with pilasters and surmounted by a triangular pediment, marks access to a courtyard closed by a rhythmic screen wall.
The interior distribution, unchanged since the 18th century, is organized around a monumental stairwell covered with a false vault in cloister arch. The original elements preserved include fireplaces, decorated ceilings, and a painting painted in greyish with romantic subject. The facades combine a brick architectural decoration with stucco motifs, characteristic of the regional style. Together, protected by decree in 2006, is evidence of the influence of Toulouse's parliamentary elites in provincial urban planning.
Located at 8 rue Despeyrous (formerly Despeyroux), the hotel reflects the social prestige of its sponsor, a member of the nobility of dress. Its exceptional state of conservation – both for volumes and interior decorations – makes it a rare example of a private hotel of the Enlightenment in Occitanie. The legal protections concern facades, roofs, as well as the fence wall and its gate, classified for their heritage value.
