Origin and history
The Hotel du Pecq is a historical monument built between 1770 and 1787 for Charles Guy, a close to the Earl of Artois (future Charles X). This building, of classic style, would have included Tuscan columns recovered during the demolition of the neighbouring nine castle. Its architecture reflects the influence of Parisian private hotels of the time, combining elegance and functionality for an aristocratic or bourgeois clientele.
In the 19th century, the hotel underwent changes, partially altering its original structure. Today, it is protected for its facades and roofs, as well as for its entrance pavilions and communes, inscribed in the Historical Monuments since 1974. Owned by an association, its current use (visits, rentals, guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources.
Located 1 Place Royale au Pecq (Yvelines), the hotel is located in an area marked by the royal and aristocratic history of the region. Its location, close to Versailles, highlights its link with the court and elites of the Ancien Régime. The preserved architectural elements, such as the re-used columns, reflect the practices of material recovery and reinterpretation at that time.
