Origin and history
The house located at 2 Place du Puits in Rochefort-en-Terre is a civil building dating from the 3rd quarter of the 17th century, typical of Breton architecture of that time. Its façade, with a great symmetry, is distinguished by an elevated ground floor decorated with two rectangular crosses and a central door in basket handle. Prominent consoles highlight the first floor, where a single window is combined with a dotted skylight, all framed with pilasters, mumulures and a pediment.
Classified as a Historic Monument, this house saw its street façade and roof protected by order of 12 October 1932. This type of construction reflects the influence of French classic styles in the region, adapted to local materials and know-how. The building, though modest by its size, illustrates the care taken to decorate bourgeois or artisanal houses in Brittany at this time.
The location of the house, in the historic centre of Rochefort-en-Terre — a village classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France — reinforces its heritage interest. The building, still visible at the address indicated (although GPS coordinates suggest an approximation), bears witness to the preserved urban planning of this municipality of Morbihan. No information is available on its current use (visit, accommodation, etc.) or its potential historic owners.
