Façade and roof on the square and passage (Case AT 298, 277): classification by decree of 11 February 1993
Origin and history
The house located in 3 Place de la Halle in Bar-le-Duc is a building dating from the first half of the seventeenth century. This building, typical of the civil architecture of the period, is distinguished by its facade and roof, protected by a classification under the Historical Monuments since 1993. Its central location, on an emblematic square of the city, suggests an important role in the urban life of Bar-le-Duc, then under Lorrain influence.
Classified by ministerial decree in 1993, this house illustrates the preserved architectural heritage of the Grand East region. The protected elements include the façade overlooking the square and the adjacent passage, reflecting the importance attached to the conservation of local historic structures. The property is shared between a private owner and the municipality, reflecting mixed heritage management.
The location of this monument, confirmed by the Merimée and Monumentum bases, is considered satisfactory (level 6/10). Although little detail is available on its current use, its status as a Historic Monument makes it a privileged witness to the urban history of Bar-le-Duc, in the department of Meuse.
