Origin and history

The house located at 42 rue de la Concorde in Amboise is a civil building dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, typical of Renaissance urban architecture. It is distinguished by its southern facade adorned with cornel posts and ground ties, as well as by two corbelled floors overlooking the ground floor. These decorative elements, combined with the presence of hooded interior chimneys supported by ground legs, illustrate the craftsmanship and high social status of its original occupants.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 1 June 1948, this house specifically protects its southern facade and roof, including characteristic chimneys. Its location, between Rue de la Concorde and Quai Charles-Guinot, suggests a historical link with the river and commercial activities of Amboise, a city marked by its proximity to the royal castle and its role in the political and cultural life of the region under the Valois.

The accuracy of its current location is considered "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), although GPS coordinates place it at approximately 17 Charles-Guinot wharf.
